Pro recorders rarely offer a 3.5 mm mini-jack PIP input. This adapter lets you use your Earsight PIP microphones on any recorder with a 48V XLR input (Zoom F6, Zoom F3, Zaxcom, Nagra, Tascam FR-AV4, Sound Devices MixPre). You get to run your lavaliers on XLR gear, with a higher supply voltage than PIP inputs provide (9V instead of 2 to 5V depending on recorders), so the capsules perform at their very best.
Designed for Earsight mics, it also works with any stereo microphone that accepts a plug-in supply up to 10V — please check your mic's datasheet, or just ask me, to confirm the maximum voltage. Use your Earsight PIP mics with every recorder you own!
As an option, I offer a Portacapture / Rode AI-Micro version with two 3.5 mm mini-jacks and two XLR plugs compatible with 48V phantom. The XLR plugs carry a circuit that converts the 48V phantom down to roughly 9V PIP — the sweet spot for Earsight capsules (best signal-to-noise, low distortion). Portable recorders usually supply 2 to 5V, which works but doesn't let the capsules reach 100% of their specs.
Same cable as the other Earsight mics, hand-crafted in France with silver-based soldering for maximum signal quality. Low-profile XLR versions are available to save space in your bag.
